How to Search Walton County Dockets
No single search box pulls up every Walton County court docket. Each court keeps its own channel. Superior Court cases run through PeachCourt, reached via the Georgia Courts E-Access directory. You will need an account before you can search; some document images may also carry a charge. Magistrate civil cases and criminal warrant information sit in a separate, free tool. It is called Walton Magistrate WebCaseManagement. Probate traffic, Juvenile, and municipal cases stay with their own clerks.
Before searching, gather a few things. Collect the court name, the full case number, a party name, and the filing or setting date. Don't guess at a case-number pattern. Walton forms say "Docket #" and "Civil Action File Number." Yet no official source publishes one universal format.
- Identify Superior, Magistrate, Probate, Juvenile, or the issuing municipal court.
- Search by exact case number or party name in the matching official channel.
- Open the docket and compare parties, filing dates, entries, and disposition.
- Confirm a setting against the latest notice, order, calendar, or clerk response.
- Request a plain or certified copy from the custodian when the portal is not enough.
Walton Magistrate Search Fields
The free Magistrate portal takes a case number, a party name, or a CSE number. A plus button expands each result. Civil records can show filings, service, answers, and document links where available. Criminal access is narrower. The county publishes warrant information rather than public criminal document images, and that gap is a portal limit, not evidence the Superior clerk holds the case.
| Field | Use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Case number | Best exact-match key | Copy it without changing punctuation |
| Party name | Broader search when number is unknown | Try spelling variants |
| CSE number | Portal-specific search field | Meaning was not defined publicly |
The search route covers Magistrate Court only, so Superior cases must go through PeachCourt or the Superior Court clerk.
What a Court Docket Shows
Think of a docket as a chronological index. It is not automatically the full case file. Entries typically name the court, the case number, the filing date, parties and counsel, later filings, and settings. Disposition, financial or post-judgment activity, and any appeal transmission may also appear. A signed order always carries more detail than its one-line docket entry. An image may be missing because the file is paper, restricted, sealed, or not offered online. It may also be obtainable only through the clerk.
| Case Number | The court-assigned identifier, copied exactly. |
|---|---|
| Parties | People or organizations named in the case. |
| Docket Entries / Filings | Time-ordered filings and court actions. |
| Hearing Settings | Date and setting type, subject to later change. |
| Court & Judge | The bench and assigned judicial officer. |
| Disposition | The judgment, plea, dismissal, or other outcome. |
Walton Docket Terms in Context
Local labels make the most sense when you read them in context. Check them beside the entry date and the document itself. A calendar is simply a posted list of cases and settings. "Walton Civil" and "Walton Criminal" are Alcovy calendar labels. "Pretrial Hearing" names a stage of the case. "Trial Order" does not by itself prove a trial starts that day. "Criminal w/Additions" just means the posted list includes matters added to it.
- Continuance or reset
- A later order or entry moves a setting; the older date remains in history.
- Disposition
- The recorded outcome or status resolving the case.
- Fi. fa.
- An execution process listed in Walton Magistrate civil matters.
- Certified copy
- A copy authenticated by the clerk, not a printed screen.
Which Courts Keep Walton Dockets
Walton County splits its courts by subject and level. Superior Court, in the Alcovy Judicial Circuit, is the main general-jurisdiction trial court. Magistrate handles limited civil claims, dispossessory matters, warrants, and preliminary criminal work. Walton has no separate State Court. So Probate also handles estates and guardianships along with certain traffic and misdemeanor matters. Juvenile covers delinquency, dependency, CHINS, truancy, and traffic cases involving a person under 17. City traffic and ordinance matters go to the municipal courts.
| Court | Docket Covers | Where to Search |
|---|---|---|
| Superior Court | General civil and felony or misdemeanor filings | PeachCourt and Superior clerk |
| Magistrate Court | Claims to $15,000, dispossessory, warrants, preliminary matters | WebCaseManagement and Magistrate clerk |
| Probate Court | Probate subjects and some county traffic | Probate clerk and linked court tools |
| Municipal Courts | City traffic and ordinances | Each city clerk or vendor |
Walton Court Channels Stay Separate
The official Walton County Courts landing page lists each court office separately rather than one combined docket.

Treat the court list as a routing tool. It keeps a Probate, Juvenile, or Magistrate question from landing on the Superior clerk's desk. The Walton County government site adds a second official route to departments and elected offices. It also serves the administrative open-records queue. Even so, a case file belongs with its judicial custodian, not county administration. The Walton County government home page supplies that wider county context.

Administrative records stay with county administration, while any case docket or filed document belongs with the named clerk.
Finding Court Dates and Settings
A Walton County court date can surface in several places. It may be a citation or notice, a docket setting, an Alcovy judge calendar, or a reply from a clerk or judge's office. For a party, the latest notice or signed order controls. Alcovy calendars usually post 7 to 10 days before court and can change. Civil scheduling runs through the assigned judge's office. Callers should have the case number or civil action file number and county ready.
Read the setting type with care. A pretrial hearing, motion setting, plea, docket call, or administrative calendar is one entry. It is not necessarily the trial. The full Walton County court calendar process explains resets and how to confirm an active setting.
Walton Courthouse Past and Present
The docket counter sits in the Walton County Judicial Center at 303 South Hammond Drive in Monroe, not the historic courthouse at 111 South Broad Street. Inside the Judicial Center, Probate and Magistrate occupy the first floor. Juvenile and Superior courtrooms are on the second. The Clerk of Courts sits on the third. Opening times differ by office, so confirm the exact counter before you travel. The official Walton courthouse history page documents the 1883 building.

The old courthouse survived tornado damage, a WPA renovation, and later modernization. Today it is local court history, not the default records counter.
Walton Court Data Has Limits
Georgia's court research site publishes dashboards and workload material that help explain court activity. Aggregate numbers cannot locate a person's case or hearing, though. The 2025 Superior Court workload assessment reports circuit-level measures, not a live Walton County docket. Use statistics for context. Then use the clerk or official court portal for a specific case. The Georgia court data and statistics page presents the statewide research channel.

That distinction keeps an annual filing total or chart from being mistaken for a searchable case register.
Statistics can still explain things. They show why a posted calendar changes. They show why a clerk needs a precise case number, or why a record request gets routed among divisions. They cannot establish that a specific filing was accepted, a hearing was reset, or a judgment was entered. Those facts come from the clerk. They also come from the current Walton County docket, a signed order, or a notice. When two sources disagree, keep the latest document. Then ask the assigned court to confirm the active setting.
Public Access to Walton Dockets
Uniform Superior Court Rule 21 presumes that court records are open to the public. A judge may still limit access. That step requires a defined process. It also requires a showing that privacy harm clearly outweighs public interest. One more wrinkle exists. A docket line can stay visible even when its underlying document is sealed or redacted. Uniform Magistrate Rule 20 goes further for that court. It shortens protected identifiers in public pleadings, and portal access never overrides a sealing order.

Walton Juvenile Dockets Are Restricted
Walton Juvenile Court covers delinquency, dependency, children in need of services, and truancy. It also covers traffic cases involving a person under 17. Don't expect these files in a normal public search. Adoption matters, dependency records, protected family-violence identifiers, and other confidential material may be missing. They may also be trimmed or redacted. So a blank result in those categories proves nothing. The Walton Juvenile Court page names the separate court office that handles these dockets.

Ask the Juvenile clerk what access fits your role as a requester. Never try to slip past a login, a redaction, a confidentiality rule, or a judge's order.
Restriction shows up in more than one way. A public result might list nothing more than a status or a single docket line. Maybe the document image is withheld while the rest of the file stays open. In some matters, no public result appears at all. The Clerk of Superior Court can tell you whether a Superior record exists and what request process applies. Clerk staff cannot undo a judge's seal, though. If access is denied, ask which law or order governs. Also ask whether a redacted copy is an option.
The Clerk and Walton Dockets
Karen P David is the elected Walton Clerk of Superior Court. Her one office runs separate civil and criminal divisions. The clerk files, stores, retrieves, and publishes Superior records, while lower-court clerks keep their own dockets. PeachCourt can display case information and any available images, but the clerk's official file still controls. Need an older file or a sealed-access question? A plain copy or a certification works the same way. Contact that office directly.
Superior requests can go through the counter, mail, phone, email, and a published fax. Give the court and division. Add the full case number and the exact entry or date. Say plain versus certified copy, your contact details, and a return method. Confirm cost, payment, and turnaround first. No general Superior copy schedule or guaranteed response time is published.
For a city citation, keep the ticket. Jot down the issuing agency, citation number, name, court date, and payment confirmation. If the online vendor returns nothing, call the municipal clerk instead of assuming the matter is gone. A new citation may take time to post. A missed-date case may no longer accept online payment. A notification form may only enroll alerts, not results. Ask the clerk for the current setting. Request a plain or certified disposition when the case outcome matters. County traffic handled by Probate Court follows a different record route from a city ticket.

Federal Dockets Use PACER
Federal cases for Walton County run through the Middle District of Georgia, Athens Division. That covers federal civil and criminal matters only. Nothing from Walton Superior, Magistrate, Probate, Juvenile, or the municipal courts appears there, so check where the case was filed before searching the federal docket. Filings move through CM/ECF, and the public views them through PACER. The official PACER portal is where that federal docket access begins.

Inside the federal system, charges and case numbers follow federal rules. A Walton state copy or certification is different. That still comes from the proper state or local clerk.
Court Dockets by City in Walton County
Municipal traffic and ordinance cases begin with the city court that issued the citation. Monroe, Loganville, Social Circle, and Walnut Grove each publish a municipal court or payment channel. None of the cities offers a full public case database. Between has no separate municipal court of its own. Its ordinance material points at least one matter to Walton Magistrate Court. A payment or notification vendor is not the full docket. So request the final court record from the issuing clerk.
